Snow Leopard plus FontExplorer X equals screwed-up fonts in Firefox (especially Helvetica).

Google Search on “Snow Leopard Firefox FontExplorer X” reveals numerous incidents of CSS displaying incorrectly in Firefox (wrong font weight, wrong font style) when Font Explorer X is on Snow Leopard Macs.
My Flickr thread contains a screenshot demonstrating the problem plus a useful discussion of causes and possible workarounds.
Disabling FontExplorer X solves the problem.

  • It's still not fixed... you're still stealing content and hotlinking images from many sites. For example RRW: http://wdtoolkit.com/2009/12/07/how-google-will... (which is a newer post)

I'm sure you didn't mean to hotlink their images, right? The date says December 7... Oh but..didn't you say this was fixed? Obviously not. Why launch a site when your back-end isn't even working right? Didn't you do any testing before launching it? What a web-developer you are.
  • Why did you take this content from http://www.zeldman.com/2009/11/29/helvetica-fir... ?

My mistake. All future posts only show excerpts with a link back to the original and not full content.
  • I've seen you make this reply several times to other bloggers asking about their content being taken. Are you going to fix old posts?
  • wdtoolkit
Chad, GOOD TO SEE YOU. I hope you are doing well. ( You've got some brown stuff on your nose I think.)

I just fixed it, but there may be others.
  • Thanks for the sarcasm. It's great to see you too & I don't think there is anything on my nose but thank you.

If you did this kind of stuff in the academic world it would be called plagiarism and if you did it on a paper in college and the professor caught you, you could be expelled from the school. The problem I have is that you never apologized to these people that you took their entire content from. You never said "I am sorry for taking your content I am fixing it & it will be resolved soon." You didn't put a blurb in your about page about "Hey my blog pulled full posts instead of excerpts like it should have and I am fixing it. I am sorry if this appears like I am hotlinking your content. I don't do that kind of thing here and I am sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you." You didn't tweet out an apology either instead you said "my mistake" as if you got caught doing something but won't apologize for it.

Sorry, if I seem brash I don't really know you and you could be a wonderful person. It just appears that you got started on the wrong foot and didn't "clean up" the hotlinking mess you made. Thank you for fixing the posts that you have fixed so far & by all means if bashing me makes you sleep better at night then have at it.
